How to get to the island
The visitor can access the island:
Lefkada is the only Greek island which can be reached by car over a floating bridge. It is 370 km away from Athens and it can be reached either by car or by bus, since there are daily routes from and to Athens. The operation of the Rio-Antirrio bridge (cost: €13.30) considerably facilitates connection of the island with the rest of Greece. A more economical solution is the use of the Rio-Antirrio ferry boat (cost: €6.50).
It is 400 km away from Thessaloniki, if you use the Egnatia Highway, and it can be reached either by car or by bus.
From the port of Igoumenitsa, which is 100 km away, you can reach the island driving through the undersea tunnel of Preveza-Aktio (cost: €3), which makes access to the island from northwestern Greece easier.
